Evaluation breakdown

Teaching Quality4.0
LOVED those insights about the Cosmere galaxy.
He's incredible at world building, introducing fantasy lore that didn't exist previously.
I personally liked the way they portrayed them learning to communicate. I like linguistics though so that made it more interesting to me.
The climax is that yippee kid accidentally destroys the control station and wins the day??
I think the humor was a little too heavy. It seems like every scene needs some joke, even heavy scenes, which took away the weight for me.
This film really struggles with tone and identity, frequently jumping between doom and gloom and a comedy routine with Ryan Gosling having a space dance off with an alien rock dog.
The movie was goddamn awful and so was the book. Y’all are a bunch of clowns for thinking this nonsensical garbage was anything other than a Swiss cheese block of plot holes.
Teacher's Experience4.5
Just you talking about how you grew up reading The Wheel of Time, I can only imagine how insanely incredible it was to be chosen to write it.
I think Brandon Sanderson is an amazing author. Totally unique and I love his books. He's incredible at world building, introducing fantasy lore that didn't exist previously.
Brando Sando, you lost your way from greatness to a misguided fool. Please come back.
Don’t be that guy.
Study Material4.3
I have such high hopes that in 20 or so years I’ll get to say “Cosmere? Oh ya, I read the books before it was even a movie/show.”
I truly think Mistborn could be the next MCU but better.
LOVED those insights about the Cosmere galaxy.
The book is 100% worth the read. If you're not a big reader, then the Audio Book is a fantastic option. Ray Porter did an amazing job.
I enjoyed Sando's work until I read Wind and Truth. I had to hold my vomit down while reading about Renarin and Rlain adventures.

I liked the movie overall but it seemed all the characters were dumber than in the book, especially the scientists.

If you're not a big reader, then the Audio Book is a fantastic option.
Even though I agree on the main focus being the Grace-Rocky relationship, what about how they cut off and changed Stratt so much? She is written a lot colder and tougher than what they showed.
Fees vs Value4.2
The book is 100% worth the read.
I loved the film, the best film I have seen in a long time and I left the cinema with a sense of wonderment I have not felt since Lord of the Rings ended.
It absolutely blew me away. LOVED every minute of it.

My favorite change made for the movie was Stratt’s character. The movie (and her actress) gave her more depth and warmth and made me like and appreciate her way more.

This movie was a complete mystery to me, I knew nothing about it when I started watching... It absolutely blew me away. LOVED every minute of it.

What could be better

I remember when ep 1 came out, 3 of my friends went to the premier and then called me. I asked how it was and the one friend said, 'uh. well...' The climax is that yippee kid accidentally destroys the control station and wins the day??

The Marvel universe didn’t start when they created the Marvel Cinematic Universe and you have no cinema so you’re more like the actual Marvel universe and are about 50 years behind them. Don’t be that guy.

Honestly? I was not impressed. This film really struggles with tone and identity, frequently jumping between doom and gloom and a comedy routine with Ryan Gosling having a space dance off with an alien rock dog.
