“ACID & BASE CONCEPTS: pH scale is from 0-14, 7 is neutral. Above 7 is base, below 7 is acid. Sorensen explained this in 1909. Acids turn blue litmus red, bases turn red litmus blue. Acids give H+ ions, bases give OH- ions. Hibiscus, red cabbage, napenthins, and turmeric are natural indicators. If turmeric gets on clothes and you wash with soap, it turns red due to acid-base reaction.”
“LACTIC acid is in milk. MALIC acid in apples, SULFURIC in batteries. TARTARIC in grapes and sour fruits. BENZOIC in grass. OXALIC in tomatoes and spinach. ALUM is saline. P and S in soap. AMMONIUM for cleaning windows. CITRIC acid in lemon. Blood pH is 7.4.”
