Evaluation breakdown

Teaching Quality4.0
Explains complex concepts like Vx and Vy clearly, leading to deep understanding.
Provides practical tips (e.g., trim for airspeed, power for glideslope) that transform student performance.
Helps students achieve significant milestones, such as passing PPL check rides.
Contains some factual inaccuracies (e.g., 'Reversing controls' description, humidity/pressure link).
A revised lesson was poorly received, indicating potential inconsistency in quality.
Teacher's Experience4.0
Demonstrates deep practical and theoretical knowledge of flight mechanics and procedures.
Capable of guiding students through various stages of pilot training, including PPL and IFR.
Specific factual errors mentioned by students suggest potential gaps or outdated information in certain areas.
Study Material4.0
Video lessons are highly effective, described as 'really helpful seeing the real lesson'.
Materials are comprehensive enough to help students pass PPL and IFR ground training.
Students rate the materials as superior to expensive paid ground school courses.
One 'new version' of a lesson was disliked, suggesting that content updates might not always improve quality.
Doubt Support3.0
Tests & Practice4.0
Instruction directly prepares students for real-world assessments, leading to successful PPL check rides.
Practical tips provided are highly applicable to flight scenarios.
There is no explicit mention of practice tests, quizzes, or mock exams provided by the teacher within the course.
Flexibility5.0
Video format allows students to learn at their own pace and convenience.
Accessible for ongoing training and review, fitting into diverse student schedules.
Fees vs Value5.0
The training is free, yet provides immense value.
Students explicitly state it is '100 times better than a $400 ground school course'.
Helps students achieve expensive certifications (PPL, IFR) at no monetary cost.
Teacher Personality4.0
Students express significant gratitude and appreciation for the teacher's efforts and content.
The teaching style is generally enjoyable and engaging for learners.
One student found a revised lesson 'giving me a headache'.
Another student was annoyed by specific terminology ('relative wind').

Top Strengths

1. Exceptional Value (Free and outperforms paid courses)

2. Effective Teaching of Complex Aviation Concepts

3. Strong Preparation for Pilot Certifications (PPL, IFR)

Areas to Improve

1. Ensure Accuracy of Technical Details and Terminology

2. Maintain Consistent Quality Across All Lessons, especially after revisions

3. Consider adding structured practice tests or exercises

What students love

Woah, I actually understand Vx and Vy now. Vx gives more height per distance to avoid an obstacle, but Vy climbs faster per time because you're flying faster.

I would like to suggest almost a combination of two of your tips. Trim for airspeed, power for glideslope. This transformed my landings!

The best thing I ever did for landings was to FINALLY figure out my power settings for each phase of flight. It sounds obvious, but you've GOT to know what power & configuration will give you the desired speed & rate of descent.

I would really like to see more videos like this; it’s really helpful seeing the real lesson.

Really enjoy your videos! I’m about 3/4 of the way through my private pilot training and your channel has been a huge help!

Hey man, thanks so much for making these videos, sir. Just passed my PPL check ride today and yours helped the most. I’ll be 19 this summer and have aspirations of being an Air Force Pilot.

I’ve spent the past few days on your videos and they’re by far 100 times better than a $400 ground school course I paid for. I wish I found them earlier. You're doing an amazing job.

Been watching your channel for at least a year, helped me get my PPL! Thanks!

Excellent video Josh. I definitely need more learning for my IFR certificate. Glad you are doing the IFR ground now. I appreciate all the time and effort you have put into your videos and courses.

Thank you so much for what you do. I watched about 3 quarters of your course, and I did my first discovery flight. My instructor was so impressed that he let me land the plane!

What could be better

You have an error in your description of “Reversing controls”. The airspeed is always controlled by auto throttles, and vertical speed by pitch attitude. Referencing altitude controlled by elevator is not accurate.

Previous version of this lesson was 1000 times better. This new version is giving me a headache.

Why do you talk about “relative wind” instead of air flow? I get “relative wind” after Mexican food, not flying.

4:50 humidity has nothing to do with pressure. STOP MENTIONING IT!
